Yeah, just saw it a couple of minutes ago on standard DVD. I would have rented the Blu-ray version of it, but they didn't have it at all at Blockbuster.
So...Dragonball Evolution... For quite a while now, many people have said over and over that a movie based on the Dragonball franchise would suck horribly. For me at that time, I didn't really have an opinion on it. Neither agreed nor disagreed with them... But as it is obvious now, I eventually grew to learn to accept change.
So with that, as it probably was predictable to you by now, I honestly have to say that the Dragonball community is getting riled up over what is SUPPOSED to be a different interpretation of Dragonball (not Z, btw. It's the original DB.), as stated by the movie's director himself... In other words, yes, I liked it.
I don't get the complaints at all. I mean, Goku is still Goku in this movie. Roshi is still the crazy pervert that he is in the anime. The Kamehameha is still in, albeit with more variations of it in the movie. Even with the changes such as the different character of Yamcha and Bulma wielding guns, yes, I still liked it. Hell, I even liked it when Goku pwned those kids at the party.
Now this is not to say it didn't come with faults. I had a gripe with the movie's pace. It seemed too rushy to me... And yeah, as cool as he was, Piccolo could've used more screen time as well as a longer final battle with Goku. Still, Goku's final Kamehameha was awesome.
Regarding the whole Oozaru thing, however, I'm confused. If the great ape is supposed to be a separate entity rather than a Saiyan transformation, then how will they explain that when the rest of the Saiyans come in? Hm...
Well, all in all, if you can tolerate different interpretations of a franchise like this, then you will like this movie... I'm definitely looking forward to how they will handle Z...and of course, Super Saiyan Goku.
However...hm, I doubt it'll get greenlighted. Just because of the fanbase alone. =/

What I wish to see in artwork form:
-Here's an interesting idea: Super Klonoa helping Super Sonic on any one of his final battles in the Sonic games.
-Super Klonoa in his blue outfit, to prove that I don't mind him being clothed if he ever does appear in a Klonoa game. Can be the Eggmanland scene from my Sonic & Klonoa alt-verse fic, or otherwise... One of the reasons why I prefer him clothesless/naked, however, is because of more golden yellow fur. He's golden all over, in other words.
-Sonic and Klonoa (clothed) posing with Chip and Huepow.
-Clothes switcheroo! Sonic wearing Klonoa's blue clothes, gloves/shoes, and hat, while Klonoa wears Sonic's gloves/shoes. (Collar optional.)
-Super Sonic Star, Super Klonoa, and SSJ Goku together. For the "What I'm Made Of" fic remake.
-Any contributions to my collections in my DA favorites.

Ugh, I love how people are like "Goku shouldn't be in school", "they used this name in a context that I am totally unfamilar with" rah, rah...different interpretation. Different things will happen. I'm not going to shell out money to go see an hour long recap of everything I already saw in the manga, reproduced exactly how it is...only a lot more tedious. I paid my dues in that respect when I played DBZ: Sagas. XD I like my sassy brunette Goku as much as I like my regular flavored Goku, thank you very much~! ...the dude doesn't necessary think with his dick either, I would be expecting a much more..."vibrant" daydream than that one scene.
I wouldn't count a sequel out either. The movie flunked domestically due to sucky marketing compared to that of what they did in the rest of the world...and supposedly, the sequel was already greenlighted, although whether Mister Marsters' word means anything, is beyond me.

Goku: The first rule is there are no rules? I thought there WERE rules!
Grandpa Gohan: Like what?
Goku: Uh...first rule of Fighting on Clotheslines Club is that nobody talks about Fighting on Clotheslines Club?
I guess it was because it was more belivible then the Anime fight scene wise. The fight scenes were pretty good in my opinion, but I hated how they changed everything around. (Especially how they kept calling Shinron 'Shinlon'. That is my biggest pet pive about the moive.)
Overall, I liked it somewhat. But then again you shouldn't really listen to me sinse I thought the Mario Bros moive and Sonic OVA were pretty good.

The real Goku doesn't think with his dick like the one in this movie.
The fact the he even goes to school is out of character too, because he's supposed to be dumb as a brick xD
As for Bulma with guns, this is something I'll never understand the complaints, as she used them a few times in the beginning of the series
