About Sonic Star
Sonic Star Hedgehog is my fan version of Sonic. He is NOT merely a fan character that looks exactly like Sonic. Its Sonic himself, with the same ol' super speed, Super/Hyper forms, and the same ol' attitude as seen everywhere (though, he is a little bit more caring and calmer in my main universe). The only differences here is that he has a yellow star symbol on his peach center, and because of it, he now calls himself Sonic Star Hedgehog, replacing "the" with "Star."

As you suspected, "The World of Sonic Star" is a Sonic/Care Bears crossover series, with Kingdom Hearts playing a major role in the series (first fic only so far...). Characters and elements from Klonoa (the second main character, btw.) and DBZ also appear in the series, making it one big crossover series...and a twisted one at that. As explained below, the star symbol on Sonic is not just for looks. With it, he can do everything that the CB Family can do, and plus, because of the Chaos energy in him that he can access through the star symbol, he can transform into Super/Hyper Sonic at will and at anytime.

Introduction

4 yrs ago: Sonic goes Super for the first time ever; SA1 takes place
3 yrs ago: SA2 and SH events occur; Emerald City is introduced; Sonic meets Klonoa; Sonic uses the Emeralds for 3 more times against Eggman.

It has been some months since Eggman's last appearance... Now Sonic lives in Emerald City with his friends, Tails and Amy, and a new friend of his, Klonoa the long-eared Cat.

By the time of Eggman's last appearance, Sonic had used the legendary seven Chaos Emeralds for the seventh time so far. After he went back to normal, he felt like he was still in Super form, as if Chaos energy was still in him...

Peace remained in Emerald City...until the reemergence of Evil the Hedgehog, who had been hiding for quite a while, hearing stories of Sonic. In their first encounter, Sonic had beaten him easily with the Emeralds, but in their second, Evil stole the Emeralds from him that time and used them, going on a rampage. He had severely hurt Sonic, and made a weakling out of Tails.

Thinking that his best friend had died, Sonic went into a stage of rage and anger. Finally letting it all out, Sonic was now Super Sonic, without the Chaos Emeralds! The tide had been turned...

Now for three years, Sonic and Evil had been going at each other; an "arch-rivalry." The dark hedgehog kept on losing, though, thanks to Sonic's newfound ability to transform without the Emeralds.

It was not until a mysterious being came to Earth, to Emerald City, that their archrivalry would reach its peak...

Thanks to a mysterious black emerald he found in Klonoa's room in Sonic's house, Evil was no longer a hedgehog, but a red-eyed clone of Klonoa. During the unconscious transformation, he had dreamed of his first encounter with the old enemies of his: the Care Bear Family. Thinking of it as nothing more than a dream, Shadow Klonoa (as he now called himself in his new form) shrugged it off.

It was then the mysterious being, Ansem, appeared and offered him power...

One week later, in the entertainent district of the city, Sonic was trying to figure out why his speed had fallen in the past couple years. Thanks to Klonoa, Sonic was actually wearing clothes now. He liked them personally...but his loyal fans didn't. Right when preparing to take a photo of him without his clothes...the attack came.

Black creatures, called Heartless, were suddenly on the rampage. Sonic stopped some of them, but was soon confronted by a dark long-eared cat. Sonic knew that Evil had transformed into a dark clone of Klonoa. Revealing himself to be the attacker, Shadow Klonoa quickly led (Super) Sonic into battle. This time, however, Shadow pulled a trick on Sonic, which led him to lose his Super form. Beaten by his enemy, Sonic was catapulted away, going into a state of unconsciousness.

Sonic later woke up in an unexpected place...that was in the sky itself: the Kingdom of Caring. Because he landed near Emerald Elementary, he was brought up here by Klonoa...and two of the Care Bear Cousins: Swift Heart and Bright Heart.

Just like when he discovered that he could go Super anytime he wanted, it was here that Sonic was about to go through something that would change his life for the better...and have reasons to not wear clothes ever again...

And yet, in light of all that, little did Sonic Star Hedgehog know that Klonoa would become his little sidekick, following him wherever he goes.

And little did they both know...that, by staying with Sonic, the energy of the Chaos Emeralds was slowly building itself within Klonoa...

This is his world. The World of Sonic Star.

After watching clips of DBZ's Cell Games saga...if anyone is still wondering, yes, I'll be remaking "Sonic vs Cell" after I'm done with "What I'm Made Of."

However, because of obvious changes in this rebooted storyline (Klonoa going Super earlier as well as having his role greatly increased, especially in "WIMO"), expect the minific to be much longer... Sonic will still kill Cell, though; just that Klonoa will help him do so this time around.

I don't think anyone has ever tried doing a Klonoa/DBZ crossover anyway, so this'll be a first, with "WIMO" and the Cell minific. I mean, Klonoa's already displaying DBZ-like qualities in my fics anyway, so...

Yes, I know. I've heard it before: "Klonoa is not DBZ." Well, IMHO, Klonoa does need to get more actiony in his games if he is to ever get off the ground here. I mean, him becoming another Sonic at least wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing. And as said below in the Misc Info section, personally, I really feel that the DBZ fighting style does fit Klonoa very well, just as it fits Sonic. I mean, him in Super form swinging that Saber of his everywhere at insane speeds really does look awesome in my mind, just as I've said the same to him shredding his clothes off while transforming. (Below update)

Well, as for the KH fic, I still haven't decided yet...

Now to try and get to the climax of "Dark Crystallis..."

8/8/08:

Alright...so in my author's comments for "Electrical Rescue," I asked you guys whether I should make more mini-fics, or begin writing the remake of the third major fic with Care Bears villain Dark Heart as a hedgehog... Well, you can ignore that now, for I already have decided on what to do next.

I will not head straight for the Dark Heart fic yet, but I will not make any more mini-fics either. Instead, I'm going to do a major, chaptered fic, which will push down the Dark Heart fic to being the fourth major one in my list here.

In "Shall Never Surrender" and "Electrical Rescue," the spotlight was on Klonoa instead of Sonic, as he awakens his Super form for the first time as well as rescuing Ashachu/Satochu from the poachers and dealing a serious blow to them... Well, the focus on him continues with this new third chaptered fic... Yes, I'm gonna write a Klonoa-only fic, bringing his power as the Dream Traveler into play here.

What I'm planning to do here is make a "spiritual remake" of my first and other Klonoa-only fic, "Lingering Darkness." It'll pretty much follow the same plot of "gathering the four Elements of Lunatea", but with major differences. The bad guys won't be Ansem and the Heartless this time around; it'll be...someone else... I won't reveal who it is here. Other than that, Guntz won't appear as well...amongst other things.

You'll find it unlikely of me to do this, but Klonoa will get his blue clothes back in it. He'll pretty much keep them on over the course of the story...until the climax, that is... He still has his Super form, but decides not to use it unless things get really bleak...which, again, will happen at the climax...

See...the REAL reason I'm doing this in the first place is to make the most dramatic and the most awesome Super Klonoa transformation I'll ever do in my fics. (Well, up until I do Hyper Sonic's...but I'm only talking Klonoa-wise.) The thought and image of a screaming, transforming Klonoa with his blue clothes being ripped to shreds as the power changes him really looked awesome in my mind... VERY awesome, in fact. See, this is another reason why I prefer Klonoa without his clothes on. Him being clothesless shows off his Super form more; those clothes would merely hide all that golden yellow fur underneath them.

Hehe. So yeah, a Klonoa-only fic as the third major one. Well, Klonoa-only until the end where he gets all DBZ/Super Saiyan-like... It may turn off some Klonoa fans at first, but it's only their tastes, really. Like some people said, this is the Internet after all.

How I came up with this whole idea.

Well, first, look at Sonic. Compare him to the Care Bear Family (either source material) and tell me you don't see a similarity. There is. Can you guess? Yep. Sonic's center is almost the same round shape as the CB's. This is more prominent in the old-school and Sonic X's designs of him.

Now that you see the similarity, do you get the feeling that a symbol could fit on that center? The average Sonic fan would probably say "Yes, but he doesn't need it." Well, I say otherwise.

From my "Why do people hate the Care Bears?" entry:

Well...in 2003, I decided to revisit my childhood memories of the CB by using Google. Yeah...I had my taste of nostalgia (and it tasted good), but then I found a thriving online community of it deep within the various fansites. By that time, I decided to join them, and met some good people there, including a very talented fanfic writer, Phoenix Audubon. Then...it hit me. I realized that Sonic's own peach center was almost the same round shape as the CB Family's own bellies...therefore a symbol could be put on it. I dunno why, but I really felt like he needed one. Ever since that realization, everyday I had the urge to put a symbol on him...and so led me to my very first request of him: [link]

I had let the artist come up with a symbol for him, and when he told me what he had in mind (Sonic's own head symbol, an Emerald, or a star), I picked the star. Mainly because stars (and hearts) are quite common in the CB Family. So he went on to continue the pic, and finished, thus the above link. Throughout many requests, the star symbol was in a different size every time, but now, I think this artist got it right: [link] Therefore, I'll make it final: the star symbol's five points would be near the edges of his peach area.

With that first pic done, since I can't draw on my own, I decided to get into fanfiction, and so began my Sonic Star Hedgehog series that I'm still writing today. That's how it all started.

Since its concoction, I've grown really fond of my version of Sonic, and because of that, I constantly wish that he had the star symbol in every pic, game, and cartoon he's in...

I guess that's what happens when you become so obsessed with the CB as a child. You instantly slap symbols of power on characters with design similarities.

Personally, I think its a really unique idea and an underused one at that. I mean, you rarely see Sonic or any other hedgehog fan character with symbols on their center, really...

And thus is how I came up with the idea of Sonic Star.

Misc. Info

-As implied above, Klonoa is the second main protagonist of the fics. He is Sonic Star's sidekick and, as such, has a Super form of his own. Also, after the fic "His World," he sports the outfit of a male Sonic character; no clothes on, but with hat, gloves, shoes, and collar only. I treat him as a Sonic character in my universe, while keeping most of his series intact.

-In the words of ~Chakra-X, you WILL see some heavy DBZ influences in my fics... I feel that the DBZ fighting style suits the world of Sonic and Klonoa very well, IMO. You will also see a LOT of Super/Hyper Sonic and Super Klonoa as well in them, as they both can stay transformed as long as they want.

-As said above, Sonic Star can do everything that the Care Bears can do. Create balloons, a floating star that can light the area... Hell, even the Care Bear Stare. All of that comes from his star symbol. And as Super/Hyper, whenever he powers up, in addition to the DBZ-ish aura, his star symbol would always glow bright, as long as he stays powered up. This makes him look more powerful, IMO.
